Ask the Expert: Heating & Cooling Vessels

15/12/25

Industrial stainless steel mixing and storage tank with sanitary fittings, outlet valves, and insulated construction for food, beverage, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, and chemical manufacturing processes.

Temperature control is crucial for ensuring the quality of your finished product. Investing in a high-quality heating and/or cooling system allows you to maintain precise process conditions for optimal results.

A jacketed vessel, or water-jacketed vessel, is designed to give accurate temperature control of its contents. Fluid, often water, is circulated through the surrounding jacket to heat, cool, or maintain the product at a specific temperature.

Adelphi Jacketed Vessels

The Adelphi range of jacketed vessels is manufactured in pharmaceutical-grade 316L stainless steel, with a 304 stainless steel 1/4-bar low-pressure water jacket. They are compatible with non-pressurised water systems and can operate with hot or cold water. Each vessel includes a 1/4″ BSP water inlet at the bottom of the jacket and a 1/2″ BSP outlet at the top.

  • Crevice- and pit-free interiors
  • Polished surfaces for maximum hygiene
  • Suitable for both heating and cooling processes

Many manufacturing processes require both heating and cooling. For example, a product may need to reach a set temperature before being rapidly cooled during final stages. In such cases, a chiller can be integrated with the jacketed vessel. Adelphi provides expert advice on bespoke configurations, such as a 100L jacketed vessel recently supplied for an E-Liquid manufacturer, complete with a chilling unit.

The jacketed system uses a closed-loop connection via hoses or pipes, ensuring the circulating fluid never comes into contact with the product.
