At Adelphi we believe one of the best ways to address this challenge is through manufacturing apprenticeships that give young people practical skills, mentorship, and real career progression.

“The skills gap in the UK manufacturing industry is going to widen unless the Government assists schools and universities in changing the perception of the industry to help attract young talent.” – Nordell spokesperson

Apprenticeship Success Stories at Adelphi

Lauren Valente – From Finance Apprentice to Accounts Assistant

Lauren began her BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration with Rewards Training in 2014, selecting modules such as Communication in Business Environment and Business Document Production & Information Management. By December 2015 she had earned her diploma and is now excelling in AAT finance exams, scoring 100% on a recent test. Lauren’s journey showcases how apprenticeships can launch a long-term finance career in manufacturing.

Alex Vannan – From Warehousing Apprentice to Key Team Member

After enrolling in a Warehousing apprenticeship with Crawley College, Alex quickly proved his abilities and graduated in 2017. His strong performance earned him a full-time role as Warehouseman at Adelphi, demonstrating the real career opportunities available through hands-on training.

Joanna Armstrong – From Administration Apprentice to Sales Administrator

Joanna completed her BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Business Administration in September 2018 while managing key tasks such as quoting, sales orders, invoicing, and stock control.
She highlights Adelphi’s supportive culture:

“I was always treated like any other member of staff, so I never felt like an apprentice. I always felt supported both by my manager and by Adelphi as a whole.”

To Wrap Up

Apprenticeships are more than just an entry point, they are a launchpad for meaningful, lasting careers. By investing in young talent, providing structured training, and fostering a culture of mentorship, Adelphi not only strengthens its own workforce but also helps bridge the wider manufacturing skills gap.
