The Challenge
In early 2020, Connolly’s Red Mills repurposed their equine healthcare manufacturing facilities to produce hand sanitiser, playing their part in the global fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19).
To meet urgent demand, they required rapid delivery of an easy-to-install, ATEX-compliant filling machine.
The Solution
The Response Benchtop Filler was configured for use in ATEX Zone 1, Category IIB 2G c T5 (100°C) and fitted with EPDM seals, making it suitable for filling high-ethanol-content hand sanitiser gels.
Despite the challenges posed by lockdown, the machine was delivered just five working days after the order was placed.
Connolly’s Red Mills’ Operations Director John Walsh explains:
“It arrived mostly assembled, so was up and running within a couple of hours of delivery!”
John had already completed the purchase of Connolly’s Red Mills’ first Response Benchtop Filler in 2019, and the confidence gained from that investment made the decision to purchase a second straightforward.
“It’s a simple machine that does what it says it will.”
Versatile and Adaptable to Meet Changing Production Requirements
A single Response filler head is suitable for filling liquids, oils, gels, creams, pastes, and solids-in-suspension into all container types.
With three standard sizes of honed pump sets, fill volumes range from 10 ml to 1 litre in a single shot.
Connolly’s Red Mills currently use their Response ATEX Filler to fill 250 ml, 500 ml, and 5 litre containers of hand sanitiser. When production returns to normal, John plans to use the filler for Connolly’s Red Mills’ other liquid-based equine healthcare products.
Save Time and Money
Exceptional filling accuracy of ±0.25% ensures minimal product waste during the filling process.
A three-minute, single-tool strip-down significantly reduces changeover time between products and container formats, helping to minimise costly production downtime.
