Adelphi Manufacturing designed and built two custom heated Response Benchtop Fillers for a major international cosmetics and toiletries manufacturer, enabling precise filling of deodorant sticks and hot hair oils.
The Challenge
The customer needed to fill two highly viscous products, both requiring consistent heating during the filling process to prevent coagulation.
Each product presented unique processing demands:
- Hot hair oils filled into vials
- Deodorant sticks filled directly into containers from the base and left to set
- Additionally, both formulations contained chlorine - which corrodes standard stainless steel.
The Solution
Corrosion-Resistant Construction
While the standard Response Benchtop Filler is manufactured from 316L pharmaceutical-grade stainless steel, this application required enhanced protection.
For these custom builds:
- All ‘wetted’ product contact parts were manufactured from a stainless steel alloy containing 6% molybdenum
- This provides superior resistance to chlorine corrosion
Flexible Heated Jacket System
The integrated jacketed heating system allows:
- Water heating up to 90°C
- Oil heating up to 130°C
This flexibility ensures stable product consistency during filling for both formulations.
Fast Cleaning & Changeover
- Full strip-down achievable in just 3 minutes
- Minimises costly production downtime
- Enables efficient switching between products
The Outcome
The two custom heated Response Benchtop Fillers were successfully installed in an American pilot plant, each producing batches of approximately 1,000 units per day.
Key Benefits
- Consistent heated filling for viscous products
- Corrosion-resistant materials for chlorine-based formulations
- Rapid strip-down for reduced downtime
- Flexible temperature control up to 130°C
- Reliable batch production of 1,000 units per day per machine
