KDR Resin Systems is a highly regarded manufacturer of seamless resin floor, wall and coving solutions, serving a wide range of industrial and commercial sectors.
Production Director Richard Adams discusses KDR Resin Systems’ growing production demands and the company’s long-standing relationship with Adelphi Masterfil.
Investing in Reliable Filling Technology
When production requirements increased, repairing an ageing filler was no longer viable.
“Repairing our old existing filler wasn’t worth it!” laughs Richard. “We needed to buy new, and found Adelphi Masterfil through a simple Google search.”
Following an initial investment in one S5000-S semi-automatic filling machine, KDR Resin Systems now operates three S5000-S fillers at its busy West Midlands production facility:
- One dedicated to epoxy resins
- One dedicated to isocyanides
- One dedicated to anchomenes
This dedicated-machine approach ensures optimal performance, accuracy, and production efficiency for each product type.
Application-Specific Modifications for Challenging Products
To precisely meet the demands of KDR Resin Systems’ specialist chemical products, two of the machines feature integrated custom backwash tanks. These counteract the dyeing effect that certain resins can have on machine components.
“I spoke to Andy, and we came up with the idea between ourselves,” says Richard, highlighting the collaborative approach taken by Adelphi Masterfil.
Additional modifications included replacing UPVC tubing with rubber and wire tubing, providing greater resilience against aggressive resin products and extending machine longevity.
Quantifiable Productivity Improvements
The production gains delivered by the S5000-S machines have been significant and measurable.
“Previously we were filling our isocyanides by hand, at a rate of around 60 per minute. We now fill between 200-300 per minute - trebling our output!” says Richard.
For high-viscosity epoxy resin products:
“We can fill 44 containers in just 7 minutes. One operator performs two jobs in this time - capping one container as the next is being filled.”
The machines typically operate eight hours per day, five days per week, filling containers ranging from 1.1kg to 15.6kg.
Using multi-shot functionality, the S5000-S machines can fill up to 30 litres. KDR Resin Systems uses four multishots to fill their largest containers, enabling a single machine to handle all container sizes in the most economical way.
High-Quality Customer Support
Richard is particularly complimentary about Adelphi Masterfil’s customer service.
“The service is spot on!”
He specifically praises Sales Manager Andy and Service Engineers Paul and Mark, noting the value of remote troubleshooting:
“Paul is great - he helps me over the phone and via video call.”
When asked whether he would recommend Adelphi Masterfil:
“Yes, totally - everything is good for us!”
