Medicated Confectionary

Maximised Production Space and Output for Medicated Confectionery Manufacturer

PHP Medicated Confectionary 1

The Challenge

A medicated confectionery manufacturer operating within a space-restricted site required a solution to:

  • Safely decant four product component parts (including one flammable substance)
  • Take up minimal floor space to maximise production efficiency
Maintain the highest hygiene standards to prevent any possibility of cross-contamination

Since the finished product is ingested by consumers, rigorous cleanliness and compliance were essential.

The Solution: Compact ATEX-Compliant Stainless Steel Vessel System

To meet these requirements, a set of eight ATEX Zone 1 Category IIB 2G c T5 (100°C) compliant vessels was supplied.

Four vessels are in use at any one time - one for each component part - and the system is mounted on a robust mobile frame for operational flexibility.

Maximises Production Space

To ensure a compact design, each vessel handle was rotated 30–45 degrees, preventing interference and allowing the frame to be significantly narrower.
The mobile trolley enables easy movement between the dispensary room and the cleaning room, ensuring efficient workflow without compromising safety or hygiene.

Saves Time and Money - Production Never Stops

The four vessels in operation represent one full day of production. At the end of the day, the used vessels are removed and replaced with four sterilised vessels - meaning production never has to stop.

While one vessel set is in use, the other is being cleaned. Stainless steel delivers key advantages for this application:

  • Can be cleaned with alcohol-based disinfectants
  • Suitable for industrial dishwashers and autoclaves
  • Resistant to damage and corrosion

The vessels feature:

  • Crevice- and pit-free interiors
  • A surface roughness of 0.4 micrometers RA, ensuring bacteria cannot harbour
  • TSE certification, guaranteeing no animal fats were used in polishing and eliminating any risk of cross-contamination from BSE or CJD

Seamless Integration with Filling Machinery

A larger 50L vessel sits to the right of the frame and is positioned safely away from pumps, as it contains a flammable liquid.

Each vessel features ½” valve outlets at the base, allowing fast, controlled product decanting for efficient filling and uninterrupted production performance.
