Apollo II Dimmable Liquid Inspection Unit

EU, BP & US Pharmacopoeia-compliant visual inspection for particulate contamination in clear liquids held in transparent containers.

Product details

  • Designed for Variable Light-Level Inspection
Features an integrated LED dimmer control that allows operators to fine-tune light intensity to suit specific products and inspection needs. The unit supports inspection conditions below standard EP recommendations while offering a wide adjustable lux range from 1,200 to 3,750 lux.
  • Pharmacopoeia Compliance When Required
When light intensity is set between 2,000 and 3,750 lux, the Apollo II Dimmable meets the visual inspection requirements of European Pharmacopoeia EP 2.9.20, British Pharmacopoeia BP 2.9.20, and United States Pharmacopeia USP <1790>, Section 6.1. This enables manufacturers to operate both within and outside standard pharmacopoeia ranges, depending on specific product inspection requirements.
  • Dual-Panel Particle Detection
To enhance inspection accuracy, the unit incorporates dual inspection panels. A matt black panel improves the visibility of light-coloured particulates, while a non-glare white panel enhances detection of dark-coloured particulates. Both panels are reversible and replaceable, and are designed for durability and long-term use in GMP-regulated environments.
  • Controlled, Consistent Illumination
The Apollo II Dimmable uses high-quality LED lighting with a neutral white colour temperature of 4,000 K. The stable, flicker-free LED output ensures consistent and repeatable inspection conditions while reducing operator fatigue during prolonged inspection sessions. The unit is available with either 230 VAC or 120 VAC electrical supply options.
  • Ergonomic, Operator-Focused Design
Ergonomics are central to the design of the Apollo II Dimmable. The unit is fully height-adjustable and features an adjustable viewing angle for optimal operator comfort. The light unit can be angled to shield the operator’s eyes from direct exposure, helping to reduce eye strain during extended inspection periods.
  • Quick Assembly & Practical Storage
The Apollo II Dimmable is designed for ease of use and practicality. Tool-free assembly allows operators to set up the unit quickly and intuitively. Its foldable design enables the system to fold flat for compact storage, with inspection panels folding together to prevent damage when not in use. This makes it ideal for laboratories and production environments where space is limited.

FAQ's

  • What is the Apollo II Dimmable Liquid Inspection Unit used for?

The Apollo II Dimmable Liquid Inspection Unit is used for manual visual inspection of transparent liquids where lower or variable light levels are required. It is ideal for inspecting light-sensitive products, formulations prone to glare or applications where standard pharmacopoeia lux levels are not always appropriate.

Ask the Expert: Liquid Inspection & Challenging Products
  • How does the dimmable version differ from the standard Apollo II?

Unlike the standard Apollo II, this version includes an integrated LED dimmer control, allowing operators to precisely adjust illumination levels. This enables inspection below standard EP-recommended lux levels, while still allowing full pharmacopoeia compliance when required.

  • How does the dual-panel design improve inspection accuracy?

The black and white contrast panels enable detection of both light and dark particulates within transparent containers.

    • Light-coloured particles are visible against the black panel.
    • Dark-coloured particles are visible against the white panel.

This ensures comprehensive visibility and consistent inspection accuracy.

  • Is the unit pharmacopoeia compliant?

Yes. When the light intensity is set between 2,000 and 3,750 lux, the Apollo II Dimmable meets the requirements of:

    • European Pharmacopoeia (EP) 2.9.20
    • British Pharmacopoeia (BP) 2.9.20
    • United States Pharmacopeia USP <1790>, Section 6.1

Below these levels, the unit supports non-standard but controlled inspection conditions were justified by product sensitivity.

  • How long do the LED lights last?

The high-efficiency LED bulbs have a service life of up to 50,000 hours, ensuring long-term reliability with minimal maintenance.
