Apollo II

EU, BP & US Pharmacopoeia-compliant visual inspection for particulate contamination in clear liquids held in transparent containers.

Product details

  • Pharmacopoeia-Compliant Visual Inspection
The Apollo II Liquid Inspection Unit has been specifically developed to establish and maintain the correct conditions for manual visual inspection of particulate contamination in transparent liquids packaged in transparent containers. It supports compliance with key international pharmacopoeia requirements used in pharmaceutical quality control.
  • Compliant Pharmacopoeia Standards
The Apollo II is designed to meet the visual inspection requirements of:
    • European Pharmacopoeia EP 2.9.20
    • British Pharmacopoeia BP 2.9.20
    • United States Pharmacopeia USP (1790) Section 6.1
  • Dual-Panel Visibility for Particle Detection
The inspection area features a vertical matt black panel and a non-glare white panel, allowing operators to reliably detect both light and dark particulates during inspection. The inspection panels are reversible and replaceable to support long-term use.
  • Controlled, Adjustable Illumination
Light intensity is adjustable between 2,000 and 3,750 lux, providing the required illumination range for compliant visual inspection. The LED light source operates at a colour temperature of 4000 K, ensuring consistent and controlled lighting conditions.
  • Ergonomic, Operator-Focused Design
The unit is fully adjustable for height and viewing angle, enabling comfortable operation during prolonged inspection sessions. The light unit can be angled to shield the operator’s eyes from direct exposure to the bright light source, helping to reduce eye strain.
  • Quick Assembly & Practical Storage
Designed for tool-free assembly, the Apollo II allows rapid setup and disassembly. The unit folds down for compact storage, with inspection surfaces protected when not in use, making it well suited to laboratory and production environments with limited space.
  • Durable, Long-Life LED Lighting
High-efficiency LED bulbs provide a service life of up to 50,000 hours, ensuring dependable performance with minimal maintenance.
  • Validation & Measurement Support
Optional IQ/OQ documentation is available to support GMP validation. Calibrated light meters suitable for measuring LED light sources are also available separately to verify inspection conditions.

  • Which Pharmacopoeia standards does the Apollo II comply with?

The Apollo II is fully compliant with:

    • European Pharmacopoeia Specification 2.9.20
    • US Pharmacopoeia USP Chapter 41 (1790), Section 6.1

These standards define the required lighting intensity, visual contrast and inspection conditions for particulate detection in liquid pharmaceuticals.

  • How does the dual-panel design improve inspection accuracy?

The black and white contrast panels enable detection of both light and dark particulates within transparent containers.

    • Light-coloured particles are visible against the black panel.
    • Dark-coloured particles are visible against the white panel.

This ensures comprehensive visibility and consistent inspection accuracy.

  • What is the illumination intensity of the Apollo II?

The Apollo II provides a controlled illumination range between 2,000 and 3,750 Lux, as required by EU and US Pharmacopoeia. This ensures optimal lighting conditions for consistent and repeatable particulate detection.
