    Sustainable Practices in Cosmetics Manufacturing

“Communication between industry and the scientific community is crucial, if the beauty and personal care industry is to meet demands for sustainability”, writes Lucy Whitehouse for Cosmetics Design Europe. Overall, there is now a greater demand for transparency in all stages of the cosmetics manufacturing process, from the raw ingredients to the materials used in processing and packaging, and beyond.

Transparency in all stages of the cosmetics manufacturing process is an essential aspect that fosters trust between consumers and the beauty industry. From the sourcing of raw materials to the final product on the shelf, transparency ensures that consumers are informed about the ingredients, production methods, and ethical practices involved. Brands that prioritize transparency commit to openly sharing information about the sourcing of ingredients, manufacturing processes, and the impact on the environment. This not only empowers consumers to make informed choices based on their values and preferences but also encourages responsible and sustainable practices within the cosmetics industry. Transparent communication about the entire manufacturing process not only builds credibility for brands but also plays a crucial role in addressing consumer concerns regarding product safety, ethical sourcing, and environmental impact, ultimately promoting a more responsible and conscientious beauty industry.

At Adelphi, winning two Sustainability awards at the end of 2018 means that our customers can buy with confidence. Our eco-friendly production facility saw us crowned Sustainable/Ethical Manufacturer of the Year in December, and our in-house efforts won the Environmental Initiative of the Year award in September.

More and more of our processes have been brought in-house, to reduce our carbon footprint, and we utilise high grade stainless steel as an alternative to plastics, both in our process equipment and, where applicable, in machine components.

Our fillers and cappers are installed and operating in a number of high value cosmetic manufacturers both in the UK and overseas, offering the user an exceptional level of accuracy to avoid costly product wastage to potentially high value cosmetics, as well as design elements that ensure the highest levels of hygiene in the production area are maintained.

We are proud to be a trusted UK supplier, with sustainability concerns at the heart of our ethos. To find out more about how Adelphi can help your business, please don’t hesitate to get in contact on +44 (0)1444 472300 or email info@adelphi.uk.com.
