How Our Standard Semi-Automatic Filling Machine Adapts to Meet Your Needs

When it comes to investing in filling machinery, many businesses face a common dilemma: choose a standard or off-the-shelf model and risk limited functionality, or commit to a fully bespoke solution with higher costs and longer lead times. At Adelphi Masterfil, we believe there’s a smarter middle ground. Our standard semi-automatic volumetric filling machine offers a flexible foundation that can be adapted to meet a wide range of industry-specific requirements – including Twin-Head setups, ATEX compliance, food-grade specifications and more.

A prime example of this adaptability is our collaboration with Evans Vanodine. They required a solution capable of filling various container sizes, from 5L to 1,000L. Instead of developing a fully bespoke machine, we customised our standard semi-automatic filler by integrating a boom arm. This modification enabled them to efficiently handle multiple container sizes on a single machine, demonstrating the benefits of working with a supplier who prioritises flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

Rather than reinventing the wheel for every customer, we leverage our proven technology and years of engineering expertise to tailor solutions efficiently and cost-effectively. This article explores the benefits of working with a supplier who prioritises adaptability – helping you get exactly what you need without the complexity associated with a fully bespoke system.

Whether scaling up to meet growing demand, or adapting to new product lines with flammable or higher-viscosity liquids, the need for a versatile filling solution is critical.

    Standard Configuration – Proven Performance

Already used by over 1,000 manufacturers across the globe, the semi-automatic volumetric filler combines speed, accuracy, and robust engineering in a compact footprint. Handling fill volumes from 250ml to 5L (up to 30L with multi-shot), the machine is self-priming and self-pumping, enabling you to get started increasing your output right away.

Easy and efficient changeover between different container sizes and fill volumes reduces costly production downtime, thereby increasing your profitability potential.

The semi-automatic filler is ideal for businesses looking to improve fill precision and reduce waste without overcomplicating processes or investing in a fully automated line. It delivers the perfect balance of simplicity and robust performance, making it a go-to choice for small to medium production runs.

But what sets it apart is its ability to be tailored with a range of valuable add-on features – each designed to solve specific production challenges. Here’s how we can easily adapt your Adelphi Masterfil Semi-Automatic Filler…

Twin-Head Option – Double the Output, Same Floor Space

When increased throughput becomes a priority, the twin-head configuration is the perfect option. By allowing two containers to be filled simultaneously, this upgrade effectively doubles your production capacity while maintaining the same footprint. It’s a highly efficient solution for businesses ready to scale or facing spikes in demand, without needing to invest in fully automated systems.

    Weigh Scale Option

Many markets require products to meet specific weight tolerances, especially in food, chemical, and pharmaceutical sectors. Weigh scale filling helps identify under- or over-filled units in real-time. Fill accuracies comply with DOT weights and measure requirements (DTI Certification No 2001/15) for added quality control.

ATEX-Compliant Model – Safe Handling of Flammable Liquids

Handling flammable or high-ethanol content formulations requires more than just precision; it demands compliance with strict safety standards. Our ATEX-certified model is specifically designed for use in potentially explosive environments, offering enhanced protection for both product and personnel.

In order to adapt to meet your needs the fume extraction flute is fitted to reduce the amount of potentially explosive vapours around the container during the filling process, therefore mitigating the risk of explosion and preventing workers being exposed to potentially harmful vapours.

Food-Hygiene Design – Built for FDA Compliance

In food and beverage production, hygiene is paramount and aggressive cleaning chemicals are often part of the daily routine. The Food-Hygiene version of the semi-automatic filler features perforated stainless steel guards, designed to withstand intensive cleaning chemicals that would degrade the standard machine guards. This variant ensures long-term durability and compliance with strict industry hygiene standards.

Adelphi Masterfil developed these hygiene-focussed machine modifications, tailored specifically for a custom filling and capping line for Avondale. The machinery needed to play its part in ensuring that every drop of milk reaching consumers maintains the highest standards of purity and safety. Read the case study here.

Remote Nozzle Adaptation – For Filling Containers on Pallets

Remote nozzle filling is used when a container size is either too large for the drip tray, or when, once filled, the container is above the safe working weight for manual handling. This option also reduces double handling, as containers can be packed onto pallets prior to filling.

The semi-automatic filling machine can be adapted between a remote nozzle and the standard pump to allow customers, to fill a variety of containers from 1l up to 20L+. All while keeping a small machine footprint, which is ideal for a customer with limited premises space but needing an adaptable filler.

The semi-automatic filling machine also has a three way valve which either directs your product to the remote nozzle or you can use as a standard without dismantling and re-building. Meaning that the Masterfil semi automatic filler is able to adapt to meet your needs.

    Back Flush Adaptation

Back flush is used for cleaning the product cylinder while the machine is in use, typically for food applications or chemicals that can crystalise. Without the need for stripping the machine down regularly to manually clean. Also if customer has a resin or glue product you can put through a chem cleaner to stop the build-up and potential curing in the machine.

There are two variants, one with a tank and one with a manifold which is plumbed into the customer’s large cleaning tank or system. This increases your efficiency as the machine can be used while cleaning at the same time.

Custom Neck Locator – For ‘Bag-in-a-Box’ Type Filling

The custom neck locator has tighter tolerance, to prevent the bag moving around whilst filling. The plastic container top can ‘clip’ into place and hold, whilst the free-moving bag inside the static box is filled.

    Tailored for Your Process

The adaptability of the Adelphi Masterfil semi-automatic filler means there’s a configuration to suit each business’ unique needs. Each add-on has been engineered with real-world production challenges in mind, providing flexibility without compromising on the core values of quality, safety, and efficiency.
