Quick installation of ATEX compliant filler helps fight against COVID-19
The Challenge
In early 2020, Connolly’s Red Mills repurposed their equine healthcare manufacturing facilities to produce hand sanitizers, to play their part in the worldwide fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19). They needed quick delivery of an easy to set-up, ATEX compliant filling machine.
The Solution
The Response Benchtop Filler – configured to be suitable for use in ATEX Zone 1 Category IIB 2G c T5 (100C) – fitted with EPDM seals to fill high ethanol content hand sanitizer gels. In spite of the challenges presented by lockdown, it was delivered 5 working days after the order was placed, and Connolly’s Red Mills’ Operations Manager John Walsh enthuses that “it arrived mostly assembled, so was up and running within a couple of hours of delivery!”
John completed the purchase of Connolly’s Red Mills’ first Response Benchtop Filler in 2019. He says that the confidence instilled by his first purchase meant that he was immediately comfortable purchasing a second;

Versatile and adaptable
A single Response filler head is suitable for filling liquids, oils, gels, creams, pastes and solids-in-suspension into all types of container. Thanks to three standard sizes of honed pump sets, fill volumes can range from 10ml to 1 litre in a single shot. Connolly’s Red Mills are using their Response ATEX Filler to fill 250ml, 500ml and 5L containers of hand sanitizer. When the situation returns to relative normality, John looks forward to using the filler for Connolly’s Red Mills’ other liquid based equine healthcare products.
Saves time and money
Exceptional filling accuracy of ± 0.25% means that very little product is wasted during the filling process. 3 minute single-tool stripdown saves time when changing between different products and containers, resulting in less costly production downtime.
